Four weeks
The Process:
I met with Dennis and listened as he told me the story of his faith journey while losing his daughter to a mental health crisis and heroin addiction. From there, a team of three met and created a storyboard to guide the story, and I used that storyboard and knowledge from my first meeting with Dennis to develop interview questions. I arranged filming that took place over two days and included myself and John, the project cinematographer.
Day one: we filmed the interview and some b-roll in Dennis’ home.
Day two: my team member filmed more b-roll outside Dennis’ house.
After filming, Beky, the project editor, created a draft. As a team, we referenced our storyboard and interview and made change requests along the way. The process was incredibly creative and collaborative and one of my favorite projects.
